Long Standing Polar Expertise Meets Maritime Innovation: UNITED WATERWAYS and POSEIDON EXPEDITIONS Advance Expedition Vessel Development
The collaboration follows the previously announced development of a series of eight expedition and coastal cruise vessels. By working with an experienced expedition cruise operator from the outset, the program connects vessel development with proven operational insight rather than designing a standard platform and adapting it later.

Poseidon Expeditions has spent almost three decades specialising in expedition cruising in the Arctic and Antarctica. Its experience provides practical input into how an expedition vessel needs to perform in remote regions, from operational workflows and expedition logistics to guest movement and onboard functionality. This knowledge is being incorporated into the vessel concept alongside the naval architecture, technical, nautical and hospitality expertise provided through Ocean Advice and UNITED WATERWAYS.

The partnership also demonstrates the strategic role of the first project within the wider shipbuilding program. Poseidon’s involvement demonstrates how the white-label approach can combine an established expedition brand’s specialist knowledge, product philosophy, and guest proposition with dedicated maritime development and operational expertise.
For UNITED WATERWAYS and Ocean Advice, Poseidon therefore represented a natural partner for the first vessel in the program, combining a specialist market position with the depth of knowledge required to shape the first vessel around the realities of expedition operations.
The first vessel is currently under development. Further updates on the vessel will be shared as the project progresses.
