Poseidon Expeditions and renowed nature photographer Filip Kulisev announce polar photography exhibition in Monaco
Providence, RI, Feb. 23, 2017 – The icy landscapes and diverse wildlife of the polar world will be displayed in breathtaking beauty in a new photography exhibition scheduled for the Galerie des Pêcheurs in Monaco in late autumn 2018. The six-week exhibition will be the culmination of a partnership between Slovakian-born photographer Filip Kulisev and Poseidon Expeditions, a preeminent tour company that operates adventure cruises to Antarctica, the Arctic and geographic North Pole.
The exhibition was announced by Bernard Fautrier, vice president and chief executive officer of the Prince Albert Foundation of Monaco, who noted that Prince Albert will preside over the exhibition’s opening. The photographic display will continue Kulisev’s award-winning “Amazing Planet” series, about which he says, “Photographs should encourage us to preserve our environment so that future generations have a chance to admire nature’s beauty, not only by looking at pictures, but also by seeing them with their own eyes. My works are dedicated to all those who care for the future of our “Blue Planet.’”
Kulisev will create the new series of images during multiple voyages into the polar realm with Poseidon over the next year. These trips will include the Antarctic Peninsula, South Georgia, Greenland, Svalbard, Franz Josef Land and even 90º north, the very top of the world aboard a nuclear-powered icebreaker.
Filip Kulisev is recognized as a Master QEP (Highest Qualification for Professional Photographers), European Landscape Photographer of the Year in 2012 (Golden Camera), and has attained the highest qualification and title of Fellow by the British Institute of Professional Photographers. His work and publications are part of the collections of eminent personalities around the world, including Pope Francis, His Royal Highness Prince Charles, His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Slovak President Andrej Kiska, and many others.
Prince Albert II is known for his passion for the polar regions and is the only head of state in the world to have visited both the north and south poles. His Serene Highness, who is among the many distinguished supporters of Kulisev’s works, said, “Through the beauty and purity of his images, Filip Kulisev gives substance to those treasures we all too often ignore and that may disappear tomorrow as a result of our reprehensible inaction. I am certain it makes a significant contribution to alert all people of goodwill to the state of our Earth.”
Nikolay Saveliev, president of Poseidon Expeditions said that the company is honored to be a part of the project. “We believe that this new chapter of the Amazing Planet series will promote a special appreciation and respect for the polar regions, and help to encourage conservation and preservation of these wild unique places for future generations.”
